Total Quality Management

Aquatherm manufactures all collectors and system components under one roof at our 50,000 square foot facility in Lakewood, NJ. We receive raw materials in the form of plastic resin “pellets,” which are then melted, extruded,  assembled, and tested to ISO 90001:2008 Quality Management Standards. In fact, we take great pride in being the only U.S. solar manufacturer that can make that claim.

Every single collector we manufacture is subject to approximately 76 Quality Control Inspections to ensure a quality product. These QC Inspections are performed through-out the entire manufacturing process – from receiving of raw materials, to the final loading and shipping of finished product.

The Proof is in the Pellets

Products made from plastic typically start out as one-of-two types of resin blends:

  • Masterbatch:  Natural (clear) resin pellets are mixed with a concentrate during the extrusion process. This concentrate would contain additives and fillers used to affect the end-product’s physical appearance or properties. Sometimes called a “salt-and-pepper blend,” this type of mix is less expensive for the manufacturer to use, but can often result in uneven distribution of key additives.
  • Precompounded:  Compounding is a process of melt-blending plastics with other additives. This process alters the physical, thermal, or aesthetic characteristics of the plastic. Compounding starts with a base resin, which is blended with additives in an industrial mixer, producing a final resin ready for use in manufacturing. Additives are evenly distributed throughout the resin and subsequent end-products.

Aquatherm uses only precompounded resin in our products in order to maximize performance and durability. With a lifespan of 15-20 years, our solar collectors must be able to withstand a significant amount of punishment on the roof. Our resin has been precompounded with protective additives like carbon black and other anti-oxidants, which prevent fading or cracking over time and maintain performance year after year.

Our Flagship Brands

Solar Industries

The Solar Industries Collector pioneered the design and development of the original pool heating system over three decades ago. In constant production since 1976, SI was the first solar pool heating collector to feature a sun-tracking tube-and-web design, a metered direct flow header design and multi-plate construction.

With the performance of a full-plate collector and the wind-load relief of a vented collector, Ecosun is the world’s first hybrid solar pool heating collector. A center web design, Ecosun’s fluted tubes provide for increased surface area, while its patented ventilation slits reduce wind-load on the system.

A culmination of 35-years of experience in solar pool heater manufacturing. Dramatically different from the way solar pool heaters have been designed for nearly 40 years, Ultrasun is truly the ultimate way to harness the power of the sun for pool heating. So unique, Ultrasun has been awarded three U.S. Patents.

The Pool Professional’s Choice

Sun-Swim & Ultra-Swim

Our builder model collectors are manufactured using the same quality materials and processes as our flagship brands, with alternative warranty options for more budget-minded customers. In a survey done by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Aquatherm Solar Pool Heating Systems were found to be the “pool professional’s preferred solar heating system.”

*Solar Industries, Ecosun, Sun-Swim & Ultra-Swim are available in 1.5” or 2” manifold, 4-foot standard width in lengths of 8, 10 and 12-feet.

High-Volume Distribution

Sunlite & Ecolite
